===== NGC 749 is not IC 1740, which see.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 749 17.5" (10/29/94): fairly faint, moderately large, elongated 2:1 WNW-ESE, 1.5'x0.8'. Fairly sharp concentration with a prominent core and faint extensions. The core brightens to a very small but non-stellar nucleus. A mag 12 star lies 3.9' W of center.
