Corwin's Notes

===== NGC 7400. There is no problem with the identification or position of this galaxy. There are two stars superposed on the outer parts northwest and southeast, and there is one other 18 arcsec north of the nucleus. This final star appears only in the DSS2R image; this is apparently the source of the position reported in GSC3. The star is not in the DSS2B or IR images, nor does it appear in any of the 2MASS images. It is, in fact, SN 2002ge, possibly a subluminous Type Ia supernova, or a Type Ic. See IAU Circulars 7987 and 7990 for more information.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 7400 30" (10/15/15 - OzSky): at 303x; fairly bright, fairly large, very elongated 7:2 N-S, 1.5'x0.4', broad weak concentration.
