Corwin's Notes

===== NGC 7294 = IC 5225. Leavenworth's RA is about 2 minutes of time off, typical of the early Leander McCormick list. It was first corrected by Howe who had nothing more to say about the object. However, the galaxy was also picked up by Lewis Swift in October of 1897 along with IC 5226 (which see also). See IC 5225 for more on Swift's observations.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 7294 24" (7/29/16): at 200x; fairly faint, moderately large, elongated ~3:2 SW-NE, ~60"x40", contains a brighter core that gradually increases to a small brighter nucleus. The core itself sometimes appears noticeably elongated SW-NE. IC 5226 lies 16.6' SSE. 17.5" (10/13/90): faint, small, round, bright core.
