Corwin's Notes

===== NGC 7164. This galaxy is clearly identified by Leavenworth's comment, "4 vF stars north." This places it about two minutes of time west of its catalogued position, another example of the "standard offset" in the early Leander McCormick right ascensions. There is an interesting footnote to this NGC object in Bigourdan's unsuccessful search for it. See IC 1415 for the story.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 7164 17.5" (8/1/89): very faint, very small, round, low surface brightness. Five stars mag 11-15 in a string to the NE are almost collinear with NGC 7164. Located 12' from core of the rich cluster AGC 2397 (possible member?).
