Corwin's Notes

===== NGC 7036. Claimed "non-existent" in RNGC, this cluster is clearly seen in DSS images and the POSS1 prints. I put the center about 4 arcmin south of JH's position, but otherwise it matches JH's brief description: "A scattered cluster of small stars." There are about 20 stars in the cluster scattered over an area of about 8 arcmin by 5 arcmin. ------ Looking at this again in April 2016, I see that the cluster is superposed on a group of galaxies. Though they are quite faint, I've put three of them into the position table.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 7036 17.5" (10/21/95): very poor scattered asterism of 10 mag 11-13 stars in a 4' diameter. This is totally unimpressive group and surprising it would be noted by John Herschel. Most of the stars form an oval outline highlighted by a tighter group of four stars within 1' diameter at the south end of the oval. There are no stars within the asterism's outline.
