Corwin's Notes

===== NGC 6950 looks like a good, if scattered, cluster on the POSS1 prints. It was seen by both WH and JH, and their positions and descriptions agree. Still, no one has included it in a cluster catalogue, and RNGC has it as not found. I suspect, though, that it could be easily seen with a six- or eight-inch telescope.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 6950 17.5" (9/23/95): very scattered group of mag 9.5-13 stars in roughly a 10'-15' region. Barely stands out in the 20mm Nagler field and not worth noting as a cluster. There are no specific borders but the stars have the appearance of being aligned in strings or groups. Most prominent is an elongated group oriented WNW-ESE through the two brightest mag 9-10 stars (brightest star at 20 41 10.5 +16 38.9). A small line of three mag 13 stars is near the western end of the string. Appears to be a random grouping and listed as nonexistent in RNGC.
