NGC 6940. Though WH noted this as having five observations, the position
comes only from the discovery sighting on 17 July 1784 -- it is about a minute
of time off in RA. I've not yet pulled the other later observations out of
the sweeps, so can't yet comment on the other four positions. WH noted the
cluster as "A v rich Cl of pS sc sts most of the same size. 20' d."

NGC 6940
13.1" (7/27/84): beautiful rich star field although not dense. About 100 stars mag 9-14 resolved including the orange semii-regular variable star FG Vulpeculae near the center. The double star ·2698 = 8.8/9.7 at 4.5" is off the southwest edge.
