Corwin's Notes

===== NGC 5571 is a group of 4 stars. Bigourdan's second observation of it describes it exactly, though his first -- in the NGC -- attributes some nebulosity to it that is not there. RNGC incorrectly equates it to NGC 5579.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 5571 17.5" (6/2/00): at 280x-500x, three very faint stars are resolved including a very close double. It is easy to see how this close "clump" of stars (four on the POSS) could have been mistaken for a nebula. Located with a group of faint NGC galaxies and 30' SW of a mag 5 star.
