Corwin's Notes

===== NGC 3939 = NGC 3890. This was identified on a plate taken at RGO at Dreyer's request to sort out WH's positions during his sweep 1096 on 2 April 1801; the results were published in MN 71, 509, 1911. Dreyer then labeled III 971 in his 1912 collection of WH's papers as NGC 3890. Curiously, he mentions N3890 in his 1912 MN note giving NGC corrections, but not N3939. See NGC 3752 for more information.
