Corwin's Notes
=====
NGC 3738. This Magellanic irregular galaxy does not have a nucleus per se;
the short bar -- the dominant structure in the galaxy -- is covered with knots
and patches, presumeably HII regions.
The position I've adopted from GSCA is the approximate center for the entire
galaxy, and is probably about as good as we can do without picking out
individual knots.
Also see NGC 3594 where this and a few other galaxies figure in the
identification of NGC 3594 itself.

=====
NGC 3738
17.5" (3/19/88): fairly bright, moderately large, elongated 3:2 NNW-SSE although has an irregular appearance. Sharper edge on the west side and more curved on the east side. Two mag 10/11 stars are 2.4' NE and 4.0' ENE of center. NGC 3756 lies 15' SE.
13" (3/24/84): fairly bright, almost even surface brightness.
