Steve's Notes

===== NGC 2822 24" (4/4/08 - Magellan Observatory, Australia): this galaxy is located just 5.4' NE of mag 1.7 Beta Carinae (Miaplacidus)! The view is significantly hampered by the overwhelming glare of the bright star in the 24". At 260x it appeared moderately bright and large, elongated 5:3 WSW-ENE, ~1.0'x0.6', with a fairly high surface brightness. Planetary Nebula IC 2448 lies 39' SW.
