Corwin's Notes

===== NGC 2278 is a double star found by d'A. Bigourdan reobserved it, and found a companion asterism nearby, NGC 2279 (which see). See also NGC 2277.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 2278 24" (1/4/14): this 10" pair of fairly evenly matched mag 14.0/14.4 stars (oriented N-S) was easily split at 375x. This pair was easier to resolve than nearby NGC 2277 7' NW and NGC 2279 2' NE. Located 16' SE of NGC 2274 (2' pair with NGC 2275).
