===== NGC 2246 is a brighter patch of nebulosity in the eastern side of the Rosette first seen by Swift in 1886; see NGC 2237 and NGC 2239 for more on the discovery of this remarkable object.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 2246 13.1" (1/23/82): this is a brighter patch on the inner northeast side of the Rosette Nebula. A slightly darker gap in the annulus is located at the west end of this portion.
