Corwin's Notes

===== NGC 1923. There is no problem with the identity of this cluster enshrouded with nebulosity -- it, in fact, looks like the head of a bow shock, plowing through the interstellar medium of the LMC. JH's position is good and his description is appropriate. What caught my eye was an additional comment in his description: "A faint and poor cluster precedes." Indeed it does; it is at 05 20 49, -65 30.9. It is actually a scattered association, and may even be associated with the NGC object following it. See the "notngc" files, where the additional object is called "h2835 Note", for a bit more.

Steve's Notes

===== NGC 1923 13.1" (2/17/04 - Costa Rica): very faint, fairly small, irregular glow, ~1'x0.5', brighter center. Just following a group of faint stars elongated NNW-SSE. This is a cluster (part of stellar association LH 43) and HII region (N40) although I didn't test with a filter. Locate 49' E of NGC 1866.
