NGC 992
18" (1/26/11): at 285x appeared moderately bright, moderately large, elongated 2:1 ~N-S, 45"x22", well concentrated to a small bright core increasing to a stellar nucleus. A mag 12 star lies 1.5' SSE. Located 4.3' SW of mag 9 SAO 75477. Forms a pair with CGCG 462-036 2.6' NNE. This latter galaxy is situated just 2' SE of SAO 75477 and appeared very faint, very small, round, 10" diameter.
17.5" (1/20/90): fairly faint, small, elongated N-S, very faint extensions. Located 4.3' SSW of mag 8.5 SAO 75477. A mag 12.5 star is 1.4' SE of center.
